A mentoring and befriending programme delivered by trained volunteer parents (former programme attendees). The project aims to empower, support, and encourage parents to fulfil their parenting goals and overcome issues. The project has gained the Mentoring and Befriending Approved Provider Standard (NCVO).
How It Works:
• Sessions: One hour weekly, for up to 6 weeks.
• Format: Informal, relaxed meetings conducted face-to-face or via telephone.
• Mentor Matching: Mentees are matched with a suitable Sparkler based on criteria including language, ethnicity, location, religion, and age of children.
• Support Areas: Helping parents new to the area, breastfeeding support, supporting those with low self-esteem or confidence, assisting with parenting skills (e.g., bedtime routines), and enabling parents to identify goals and action plans.
